Job Description: Assistant Director of Business Development

Description of the Role

The Financial Clinic is seeking an Assistant Director of Business Development to build and manage relationships with nonprofit partners. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director of Business Development will be to grow The Financial Clinic s nonprofit client base as we work toward making Change Machine a successful and sustainable social enterprise. The Assistant Director will advance the Clinic s lead generation and field penetration strategies and will maintain a pipeline of high value capacity building and Change Machine sales. Additionally, the Assistant Director will support the Business Development Manager to maintain the Change Machine sales pipeline to meet team-based revenue targets. The Assistant Director should be ready to play an important role in generating high growth for Change Machine product over the next five years.

An ideal candidate will possess financial security and nonprofit field knowledge, have extensive experience building and managing partnerships, and have experience scoping and managing fee for service contracts in the nonprofit sector. Some experience in social enterprise or SaaS product sales is highly preferred. The Assistant Director should be comfortable with aggressive revenue targets and a fast-paced work environment.

Finally, exceptional candidates will have a passion for social enterprise and financial security building, and have an understanding of the nonprofit practitioner experience, especially in how financial coaching can enhance the mission and outcomes of traditional nonprofit services.

Core Responsibilities

  • Partnership Management
    • Support the Director of Business Development to create and implement a strategy to engage nonprofit networks and intermediaries as Strategic Partners
    • Create and manage annual partnership action plans with Strategic Partners to generate new Change Machine content and share Financial Clinic expertise with Strategic Partners networks or memberships
    • Represent the Clinic at conferences and events
  • Business Development
    • Research potential target markets for Change Machine
    • Design marketing and outreach activities for lead generation, including activities coordinated through Strategic Partners
    • Maintain a pipeline of high value sales prospects, to build our client base and achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets
    • Work closely with the Director of Business Development and the Business Development Manager to implement a collaborative, team-based approach to sales strategy and development of sales skills across the team

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree is required
  • Five years minimum of nonprofit partnership management experience is required
  • One to three years of sales experience is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated commitment to nonprofits is required; Experience working in direct services or in a nonprofit environment is highly desirable, with experience in financial security preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Powerpoint required; Experience in Salesforce, Asana helpful

Candidates will ideally be based in New York (Brooklyn) or Detroit, though the Clinic will consider allowing remote based work from other locations.
